Master Plan & Site Layout

The six-million-square-metre Expo 2030 Riyadh site: location, thematic districts, mobility, scale in context, and the post-2031 legacy plan.

Expo 2030 Riyadh occupies a site of about six million square metres in northern Riyadh, near the future King Salman International Airport. The BIE General Assembly approved Saudi Arabia’s registration dossier in June 2025. Main construction works are now being procured; the Expo runs from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031.

Location and connectivity

The site lies north of the city. Published plans point to three access routes:

  • The future King Salman International Airport is close to the site.
  • A new Expo station on Riyadh Metro Line 4 (Yellow Line); the design-and-build contract was awarded to Freyssinet Saudi Arabia in September 2026.
  • Road access via King Salman Road.

Theme and site organisation

The theme is “Foresight for Tomorrow”. The Public Investment Fund describes the site as organised in five districts. Published tender notices also name the Loop of Nations, the Collaboration District and precincts called The Icon, Place & Planet, Culture of Wisdom and Adaptation & Innovation.

Scale in context

At six million square metres, Expo 2030 Riyadh is roughly 35 per cent larger than the Dubai 2020 site (4.38 km²) and almost four times the size of Osaka 2025 (about 1.55 km²). Expo 2030 Riyadh Company expects 42 million visits over the six months.

Legacy plan

Expo 2030 Riyadh Company says at least 95 per cent of what it builds will be reused after the Expo as a “Global Village” combining culture, retail, food and beverage, entertainment, education, residential and business space.
